A Crazy 2 Weeks!

It's been almost 2 weeks since Dad's last chemo treatment. They are now doing his chemo every 3 weeks. For a few days after chemo Dad actually felt pretty good. On Saturday after chemo we took Dad to Doyle's - one of his favorite places to eat. His taste buds aren't working well but he enjoyed being there.
The next week his blood counts began to drop and he was feeling bad. As his counts went down, his shingles pain increased and became almost unbearable. On Wednesday night he was admitted to the hospital and on Thursday he received a blood transfusion. The shingles pain continued to increase and it has been a really tough time for him.
He saw an opthamologist today and learned that the shingles has not gotten into his eye. That was good news.
Now we just ask for your prayers that the pain will go away.
Please also pray that the weeks following his next chemo treatment will be easier.
Please also pray for my mom. She has reached exhaustion and we are trying to help her take better care of herself.
Thank you for praying for him through this cancer journey.

  2. As I read your posts, I feel as if I am reliving my Dad's recent treatments and as a result, can so feel the emotion behind every word you write. My Mom was so intent on taking care of Daddy that she was neglecting her own health and well-being--as is the case for most primary care givers. Yet, my Dad only wanted her to help him. One of the blessings of my Dad's illness as it progressed, however, was the lack of pain thanks to so many prayers so that is what we are going to do right now for your Dad: we are going to literally bombard Heaven's gates with petitions of mercy for your sweet Dad. Father, we ask that you bless this dear man of God with showers of favor and mercy over his body. Ease his pain and allow Him to once again experience a body without pain. We know, Father, that this sweet man will be as Job was and say, "No matter what, I will continue to praise the Lord" yet we ask that He be allowed to do so free of pain---honor his many years of service to others and to You with the grace and mercy that you so freely give to all of us who are so undeserving. Healing, Father, is what we lay at your feet for Bro. Baldwin and rest for his beautiful wife. Thank you, Jesus, for listening to us as we bring Him before the throne of Mercy again and again!
